Tribute to Mr. Curry Love
Mr. Love, an extremely influential teacher for 46 years (1952-1998) at The Palm Valley School, passed away in 2005. Many former students returned for a tribute service at the school and we have put a link, below, to a short video presentation given that day to celebrate his life. We hope that all of you who knew and loved him will remember him fondly as you watch it.

The Future
Since the merger of Marywood Country Day School and Palm Valley School in July 2005, alumni have come together to celebrate both schools’ traditions in support of Marywood-Palm Valley School. Our school has grown to approximately 500 students as a result of the merger, and the student body, faculty, and staff will be fully consolidated onto the J. Blake Field campus (formally home to Palm Valley School) by September 2, 2008.
We have spent the summer preparing for the 2008/9 school year with several construction projects. The Lower School, which exists as a “campus-within-a-campus,” has added an administrative wing, as well as classroom buildings to house Grades K – 2. The two Preschool buildings are undergoing renovation for the fall. The new softball and baseball fields are being completed. The front entrance and the drive to the Lower School are being widened. An outside assembly area has been built for the Lower School. And the gymnasium has been renamed the Hookey Family Sports Center in honor of our former Head of School, Graham Hookey.
In addition, we have expanded our enrollment goals and created positions for a Director of Admissions and a Director of Outreach. We have hired a new Athletic Director. And we are excited to welcome our new Head of School, Vincent Downey, formally Head of School at Marywood Country Day School.
Our plans for the next phase of construction include raising funds to build our Middle School “campus-within-a-campus,” which will include an outdoor amphitheater. Our goal is to build the campus by fall 2010. We will then turn to renovating the Upper School building, which currently houses the Middle and Upper Schools. Our final stage of construction includes building a library, which will house administrative offices.
With our growth in numbers, our ongoing construction projects, and the consolidation of all our students onto the J. Blake Field campus, it will not be long before alumni will hardly recognize the campus.

The Past
We are going to be making a MUCH more sincere effort to bring together the community of alumni from both prior schools and share news and information. We encourage you to register here if you haven’t done so already, to keep up your listing if you have changed any information, to provide us with information to share in future Firebird Magazines (we’ll need your address to send you one), and to touch base with other alumni that you find in the register. We hope to help you keep a “touchstone” with the school, the faculty and the friends who were a part of your educational experience.
