TYPES OF GIVING

There are many ways in which families make generous contributions to the school.
Financial Gifts - Through the Annual Fund, the Phoenix Gala Event, the creation of endowment funds or contributions to a capital campaign or a specific building plan, the school is able to supplement the money paid through tuitions to finance programs and opportunities for students. We run a very tight financial program and direct as much money as we can into support for teachers and students. Our goal each year is to finance our operating costs through tuition so that contributions to the school can go to support financial assistance programs, new equipment and new facilities.
Service Gifts - Families often assist the school by providing services at a reduced rate in areas for which the school would have to purchase such services. Construction skills, office supplies, food services are just a few examples of ways in which families can save the school money and ensure more resources are allocated directly to the classroom.
Auction Gifts - The Phoenix Gala occurs once a year, a fantastic party with live and silent auctions. Virtually all families find a way to contribute an item or two that can be used to build wonderful auction baskets, trips and personal services.
The Gift of Time - More than any other way, we are generous benefactors of donated time from our families. The Parent Association offers numerous opportunities for parents to join together socially and plan family events. Many parents provide support for classroom activities, such as reading groups or transportation on field trips.
The Gift of Leadership - Marywood-Palm Valley is a non-profit corporation, and as such, operates with a Board of Trustees who oversee the long-term planning and finances of the school. Several committees work to assist the board and expertise on those committees is invaluable to the school. Committees include finance, buildings and grounds, marketing, risk management and development and fund-raising. Skilled and dedicated committee members often join the Board of Trustees as full serving trustees.
